Photography expeditions for those
who want to see more deeply.
These are small expeditions, never more than eight of us — twelve in Botswana. We move slowly, wait for the light, and stay long after the other vehicles have gone. I am beside you the whole time: at the viewfinder, over coffee before dawn, talking through the frame you almost made. What you carry home is not only photographs.
Four destinations across 2026, and next year we are expanding to breathtaking new locations. Each is limited to eight photographers — twelve in Botswana. Places are always few, and a few dates are still being finalized.
Each expedition's day-by-day itinerary is below. If a PDF doesn't display on your device, use the direct link underneath it.

I formed myself between Parsons in Paris and the International Center of Photography in New York, and have spent the decades since with a camera between myself and the world — in the highlands of Bhutan, across the Serengeti, through the streets of Monterrey, Mexico, where I was born.
But the pictures I care about most were made standing quietly beside someone, at first light, waiting for something true to happen. I lead these expeditions because teaching is how I learn to see again. I would be glad to have you with me.
"An unforgettable photography journey that became a quiet tattoo for the heart — guided by Roberta's attentive, inspiring expertise and supported by her field team, set against extraordinary light, refined lodges, intense wildlife moments, and friendships for life."
"Traveling to Bhutan with Roberta, Karma and the Yangphel team has been sublime."
Each expedition is limited to eight photographers — twelve in Botswana. Tell me a little about yourself and where you would like to go, and we will begin a conversation.
Thank you. A few questions will help me understand what you are looking for — they are opening in a new tab now. If nothing appears, begin here. — R
